ORing’s Industrial Wireless Router Passes IoT Cybersecurity Certification
ORing’s BAR-1663 industrial wireless router has been awarded the IoT cybersecurity certification accredited by TAICS (Taiwan Association of Information and Communication Standards). The certification is designed to verify the cybersecurity capabilities of IoT devices manufactured by Taiwanese vendors. With the certification, ORing customers will have a peace of mind when deploying wireless networks for their industrial applications.
With numerous advantages such as increasing productivity, improving management efficiency, and reducing manufacturing costs, IIoT is sweeping across industries. However, data security has remained the biggest challenge and also the main obstacle to the widespread adoption of IIoT. Recognizing the importance and urgent needs to establish cybersecurity standards for IoT devices, the Taiwanese government has launched an IoT Cybersecurity Certification program which identifies IoT devices that have conformed to the TAICS’ security requirements. Devices that pass the certification are awarded the IoT Cybersecurity Mark.
The certification consists of three levels based on the degree of risk and the complexity of cybersecurity technology. Testing is conducted in three categories including security functions (such as event logs, firmware update, user identification and control, and traffic management), reliability, and vulnerability. ORing’s EN-50155 compliant BAR-1663 industrial wireless router has met the entry-level requirements in all of these categories. During the testing, the BAR-1663 was able to operate uninterruptedly for 72 hours. This industrial wireless router comes with dual-RF wireless capability, allowing wireless users to access network resources more reliably.
“While ORing has been devoted to developing advanced IIoT technology to help enterprise customers stay ahead of the competition, we have placed equal focus on the security of IIoT applications,” said Angus Shih, ORing CEO. “The award of IoT cybersecurity certification not only recognizes our past efforts, it also give customers more confidence in implementing IIoT with our products.”
